In the quiet city of Idaho Falls, something truly special happened — the world’s tallest and smallest dogs, as recognized by the Guinness World Records, met for the very first time. Reginald, a towering Great Dane, and Pearl, a tiny Chihuahua, spent a day together and showed everyone that friendship knows no size.
Seven-year-old Reginald, or Reggie for short, stands at a whopping 3.3 feet (1.007 meters) from paw to shoulder, making him the tallest living male dog in the world. Meanwhile, Pearl, who is four years old, measures just 3.59 inches (9.14 cm) tall, earning her the title of the world’s smallest dog. Despite nearly a full meter of height difference between them, the two dogs quickly hit it off.
According to Pearl’s owner, Vanessa Semler from Florida, her little Chihuahua is a true diva. Pearl loves stylish outfits, cute accessories, and even enjoys getting her nails painted. She’s got a big personality in a tiny body and isn’t shy when it comes to making new friends — even ones much bigger than her.

Reggie, on the other hand, has a gentle and playful spirit. His owner, Sam Johnson, shared that Reggie was once the runt of his litter — small and fragile — but he grew into a giant with a loving heart. Despite his size, he still acts like a puppy: playful, affectionate, and incredibly social. Because of his height, he even has a custom bowl and a dedicated kitchen faucet, otherwise he’d just drink straight from the sink!
To make things easier for Reggie, the meet-up took place at the Johnsons’ home to avoid the stress of air travel. From the moment they met, the two dogs clicked. Reggie carefully laid down beside Pearl, while she happily trotted around him like he was a giant teddy bear. The two then headed outside to play in the yard — and it looked like they’d been best friends forever.
Both sets of owners were amazed at how much their pets had in common despite their physical differences. They both crave attention, adore people and other dogs, and are considered beloved members of their families. Vanessa and Sam agreed that this meeting was a rare and touching experience they’ll never forget.
