The morning in South Jakarta was filled with chaos, specifically in the Kemang Raya area, Bangka Subdistrict, Mampang Prapatan District. On Wednesday (April 30, 2025), around 9 AM, a land dispute sparked a confrontation that caused traffic congestion and anxiety among locals.
The incident began when around 20 people from one group arrived at a disputed plot of land, attempting to enter the area. However, they were immediately blocked by another group claiming to be the rightful heirs of the land. The situation quickly escalated, with objects being thrown, creating a tense atmosphere and disrupting the surrounding area.
Fortunately, the police from the Mampang Substation and the South Jakarta Metro Police acted swiftly, managing to calm the situation before it got out of hand.
Kombes Pol Ade Ary, the Public Relations Head of the Metro Jaya Police, explained that the police immediately deployed a joint team from the South Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Metro Jaya Police Criminal Unit to investigate the people responsible for triggering the conflict.
“There’s a video circulating that understandably causes concern, but we want to assure the public that we responded quickly. Our team is currently investigating and working on resolving this incident,” said Kombes Ade Ary on Wednesday (April 30, 2025).
As of now, 19 people have been detained and are undergoing further questioning. The police have not yet confirmed whether the individuals involved are from any particular mass organizations. Further details will be shared once the investigation progresses.
“We urge everyone to resolve any disputes, whether about land or otherwise, peacefully. Please avoid creating chaos that can disturb public order,” Kombes Ade Ary emphasized.
He also added that any form of extortion or intimidation will be strictly addressed, and the police will not hesitate to take action against such activities.
This scuffle in Kemang serves as a reminder that land disputes should be resolved calmly and legally. Emotions should not take over and lead to more problems. Thankfully, the police acted quickly and prevented the situation from worsening.
