Police Seize Rp61 Billion from Online Gambling Accounts, 164 Accounts Frozen!. |
Hey, everyone! Here’s some serious news about the crackdown on online gambling! The Cyber Crime Directorate (Dittipidsiber) of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim) has seized Rp61 billion from hundreds of accounts believed to be used as storage for online gambling funds, also known as judol.
Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, Director of Cyber Crime at Bareskrim, explained that this seizure started from a report handed over by the PPATK (Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center) to investigators. It revealed suspicious financial transactions linked to illegal activities like online gambling.
"Based on the report, we took immediate action and seized around Rp61 billion from 164 accounts connected to online gambling," Brigadier General Himawan said in a statement on Friday (May 2, 2025).
But wait, the story doesn’t end here. According to the PPATK report, there are 5,885 accounts suspected of being used to store gambling proceeds! Can you imagine the scale of this network?
"Other accounts are still in the process of being blocked and temporarily halted by PPATK. We’re continuing to investigate each one carefully," he added.
This action is clear proof that the authorities are serious about cracking down on online gambling, which has been a growing issue lately. It’s not just an economic loss; it also harms society by leading people into dangerous habits.
Why Does This Matter to Us?
Online gambling is becoming more accessible, even on your phone. But don’t be fooled – the risks are high. Many people end up in debt, lose their savings, and damage relationships because of the quick-money temptation that gambling promises.
With this seizure, it’s hoped that it sends a strong message to the culprits and operators of illegal gambling sites. And for us as the public, it’s time to be more vigilant and avoid the increasing ads for online gambling.
This action by Dittipidsiber and PPATK sends a clear signal that the government is serious about tackling online gambling. So, if you’ve seen anything suspicious or been a victim yourself, don’t hesitate to report it!
It’s better to protect your wallet and well-being than to fall for the sweet promises of quick wins. Let’s be smart while navigating the digital world!
