| Prabowo's Big Commitment on Labor Day 2025: Worker Welfare & National Hero Proposal. |
On International Labor Day, May 1, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto appeared at the National Monument (Monas) to deliver a special message to workers across Indonesia. In his speech, he expressed high appreciation for the hard work and contribution of the workers who are the backbone of the nation’s economy.
"In my simple economic theory, if people with low income get enough earnings, they will have strong purchasing power," President Prabowo stated with confidence and clarity.
Not only that, Prabowo emphasized that the government is not staying idle. The government continues to provide various facilities to improve the quality of life for the people, from free health services, education, to direct cash assistance for those in need.
"We’ve allocated more than 500 trillion rupiahs for various forms of aid to the people. From electricity subsidies to cash assistance for low-income families. All of this is to ensure that no one in our country suffers," explained Prabowo to the workers and the audience present.
Prabowo also stressed that his government is working hard to ensure that every child in Indonesia can attend school without worrying about costs and that no child goes to bed hungry.
"I've already asked the Supreme Court Judges, our legal basis is strong. The earth, water, and all its wealth are owned by the state and should be used for the prosperity of the people. This is clearly stated in our Constitution," he firmly stated.
But there’s another interesting part! President Prabowo also invited labor unions to sit down and propose names of workers to be recognized as National Heroes. This step shows just how important the role of workers is in the history of the nation.
"Some community leaders and labor leaders have told me, 'Why isn’t there a National Hero from the working class?' I asked them, ‘Do you have any suggestions? Let’s discuss and propose someone.’ They suggested the name Marsinah," recalled Prabowo.
With this statement, it's clear that Prabowo wants workers to not only be appreciated for their hard work today but also remembered for their contributions to the nation's history. Labor Day 2025 feels even more special because it’s not just a symbolic celebration, but also a moment of real reflection and recognition.
