A Coldplay concert turned into corporate chaos after a moment on the stadium jumbotron blew up online. What was supposed to be a chill night of music ended with two tech execs suddenly trending on social media — and not in a good way.

Andy Byron, the CEO of data company Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer, were caught on camera sharing a cozy hug during Coldplay’s show at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts on July 16, 2025. At first, they looked relaxed. But the second they realized their faces were broadcast on the stadium's massive LED screen, their expressions turned to pure panic. The internet, of course, lost it.

The crowd cheered. Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin even joked mid-show, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just super shy.” Cue the FBI-level investigations by online sleuths.

Within hours, the clip went viral. And soon after, things got real. Astronomer released a statement saying both Andy and Kristin were being placed on leave while the company launched an internal investigation. The announcement dropped on July 18 — a couple days later than you'd expect for a PR crisis of this size. Why the delay? According to reports from Axios and Rolling Stone, the company was busy dealing with some behind-the-scenes corporate classics: exit talks, severance negotiations, and who’s stepping down first.

In the official statement, Astronomer made it clear: “Our leaders are expected to model accountability and conduct.” Translation? This wasn’t just an “oops” moment — it hit way deeper in corporate culture.

The internet didn’t stop there. One woman spotted smiling nearby in the video was mistakenly identified as Alyssa Stoddard, Astronomer’s Senior Director of People. The company quickly shut that rumor down: “Alyssa wasn’t at the concert. No other employees were involved.”

And no, that viral “CEO statement” floating around social media? Also fake. Astronomer confirmed Andy hasn’t released any personal response. Anything circulating online is pure fiction, not fact.

In the meantime, Astronomer’s co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is stepping in as interim CEO while the dust settles.

This whole situation is a pretty wild reminder: in 2025, it only takes one moment — one camera, one hug, one giant screen — to flip your professional life upside down. Especially when the entire internet’s watching.
