SEKADAU – As the countdown to New Year’s Eve 2026 begins, the Sekadau Police Department has stepped up preparations to keep the community safe. A total of 193 officers have been deployed for New Year’s Eve security, following a readiness briefing held at Sekadau Police Headquarters on Merdeka Timur Street, Wednesday morning, December 31, 2025.
The briefing was led by Deputy Police Chief of Sekadau, Commissioner Asep Mustopa Kamil. This security operation is part of Operation Lilin Kapuas 2025, a nationwide police operation focused on safeguarding Christmas and New Year celebrations through January 2, 2026.
In addition to internal personnel, Sekadau Police are supported by the Brimob Battalion C of the West Kalimantan Regional Police. Officers will be stationed at 15 strategic locations across the city, including Merdeka Timur Street, Merdeka Selatan Street, and Panglima Naga Street. All personnel are scheduled to take their positions starting at 9:00 p.m. local time, when public activity typically increases.
Beyond fixed security posts, police will also conduct mobile patrols and community outreach. Community policing officers will deliver public safety messages directly to residents, while patrols using both two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles will be carried out by the Sabhara and Traffic units to maintain order and ensure smooth traffic flow.
In his briefing, Commissioner Asep stressed the importance of full readiness and vigilance among all personnel. He highlighted that clear coordination and effective communication are essential to ensuring security during the final hours leading up to the New Year.
He emphasized that every officer must understand their duties, remain on standby, and be ready to respond at any time, including securing places of worship and areas prone to potential security disturbances. He also noted that the National Police’s year-end report, delivered by the Chief of Police, received positive recognition from community leaders across Indonesia.
According to Commissioner Asep, this appreciation should serve as motivation to maintain strong performance while improving areas that still need attention. He encouraged all personnel to welcome 2026 with a more precise, professional, and service-oriented police force.
This readiness briefing also marked a meaningful moment, as it was the last one led by Commissioner Asep before the official handover of his position as Deputy Police Chief of Sekadau on January 2, 2026. The event continued with a Tactical Wall Game session on New Year’s Eve security, presented by Head of Operations Commissioner Samsul Bakri, aimed at strengthening coordination and refining security strategies.
With solid preparation and coordinated efforts, Sekadau Police hope the community can celebrate New Year’s Eve 2026 in a safe, calm, and joyful atmosphere.
