Influencer and content creator DJ Donny is facing a disturbing act of intimidation after openly criticizing several sensitive public issues. His home was reportedly sent a package containing chopped dead chickens along with a written death threat from an unknown sender.
The incident has quickly drawn public attention, as many believe the terror is linked to DJ Donny’s outspoken stance on national issues. He has been vocal about a range of topics, from natural disasters in Sumatra to concerns over government policies and environmental damage.
DJ Donny previously highlighted the massive debt of PT PLN (Persero), which he said has surged to around Rp711 trillion, as well as environmental destruction and land clearing for palm oil plantations in Papua. These critical statements are suspected to be the trigger behind the intimidation he is now experiencing.
Instead of backing down, DJ Donny responded firmly and defiantly. He openly called the sender a coward and criticized the act as undemocratic.
“To whoever sent the dead chickens to my house, you’re a coward. The way you play this game is amateur,” DJ Donny said bluntly.
He emphasized that criticizing public policy is a constitutional right guaranteed to every citizen and should not be met with threats or violence.
“This administration has only been in power for a year, but the behavior is already like the devil’s. Threatening to kill people. How can a country threaten its own citizens? It’s absolutely brutal,” he added.
This case has reignited public discussion about freedom of expression and the safety of critics in Indonesia. Many are now urging authorities to seriously investigate the terror threat so that acts of intimidation like this do not silence public voices and democratic space remains protected.
