Karawang, West Java – Indonesia’s Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning and Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, met directly with land office leaders across West Java to hear real problems faced in the field. The meeting took place at the Karawang Land Office on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, and focused on improving land services and shaping policies that truly reflect local needs.

Rather than a ceremonial visit, the gathering was designed as an open discussion forum. Minister Nusron invited heads of regency and city land offices to openly share obstacles, service challenges, and ideas for improvement, which will later be used as key input for evaluating national-level land policies.

“I’m grateful to be able to come directly to the Karawang Land Office. I asked all of you to gather here because I want to clearly understand what problems are happening on the ground. If policies need to be adjusted or new regulations are required, this is where we start discussing them,” Nusron said.

He emphasized that land governance policies should not only work in theory but must also align with real conditions in the regions. For that reason, he encouraged transparency and honesty from local offices, especially when existing regulations no longer match current realities.

“I want to hear firsthand what challenges you’re facing in your respective areas. If there are rules that no longer fit field conditions, speak up. This is how we can jointly improve land policies and governance,” he stressed.

During the discussion, five heads of land offices from West Java shared their perspectives directly. They represented Bekasi City, Bekasi Regency, Purwakarta Regency, Subang Regency, and Karawang Regency. Each outlined operational hurdles, service-related issues, and proposals aimed at making land services faster, clearer, and more responsive to public needs.

The feedback collected is part of ATR/BPN’s ongoing effort to strengthen institutional governance and enhance the quality of public land services, particularly across West Java.

The session was moderated by West Java BPN Regional Office Head Yanuar Hikmat Ginanjar. Minister Nusron was also accompanied by Director General of Land and Spatial Survey and Mapping Virgo Eresta Jaya, Head of the Land and Spatial Planning Data and Information Center I Ketut Gede Ary Sucaya, and Head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Shamy Ardian.

By engaging directly with regional land offices and listening to concerns from the field, the government hopes future land policies will be more practical, people-oriented, and capable of delivering real benefits to the public.
