Sangatta, June 6, 2025 – The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Kutai Timur Police has successfully uncovered a case involving the discovery of a baby boy’s body in Sangatta Utara Village. The suspect has been detained on suspicion of child abuse and abandoning the infant in a vacant lot near their home.

The case began when residents found the baby’s body around 7:00 AM local time on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in a grassy area. Police launched an investigation and apprehended a Kutai Timur resident who confessed to giving birth alone in their room early on Friday, May 30, 2025. The suspect stated that the baby cried initially, then went silent, after which they placed the baby inside an Indomaret shopping bag and left it in the nearby empty lot.

Kutai Timur Police Chief AKBP Fauzan Arianto said, “We have seized evidence including the Indomaret shopping bag and a white plastic bag. The suspect is now in custody and charged under Article 80 Paragraphs (3) and (4) of the Child Protection Law, which carries a prison sentence from 5 to 15 years and fines up to 5 billion rupiah.” He also emphasized that this case serves as a reminder of the vital role family and social environments play in providing support and education, especially regarding reproductive health and child protection.

This case draws public attention to the need for closer monitoring and better assistance for pregnant women facing difficulties to prevent similar incidents from happening again. Kutai Timur Police urge the community to report any similar cases immediately so that they can be addressed promptly and properly.

Jakarta – Police have uncovered a child exploitation case involving 12 suspects, who recruited minors through Facebook to work as karaoke hostesses in Jakarta. The case was revealed on Friday, August 8, 2025, with 10 suspects already arrested and two others still being pursued.

Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief, Kombes Pol. Ade Ary Syam Indradi, explained that the suspects—identified as TY alias BY, RH, VFO alias S, FW alias Mak C, EH alias Mami E, NR alias Mami R, SS, OJN, HAR alias R, RH, Z, and FS alias F alias C—recruited children by promising a wage of IDR 125,000 per hour to work as karaoke hostesses. Upon arrival in Jakarta, the victims were housed in an apartment before being taken to a bar called Bar Starmoon in West Jakarta to work.

“We found that besides working as karaoke hostesses, the child victims were also forced to have sexual relations with several men, with payment ranging from IDR 175,000 to IDR 225,000,” said Kombes Ade Ary. He added that suspect HAR alias R is a juvenile and was therefore only subjected to mandatory reporting. Meanwhile, suspects Z and FS alias F alias C remain at large.

This case has raised serious concerns regarding online child exploitation and the protection of minors from sexual crimes. Metro Jaya Police continue to investigate and ensure that the perpetrators face appropriate legal consequences to serve as a deterrent.
