Aprilia Emerges as Serious Challenger to Ducati in 2025 MotoGP Mid-Season

Aprilia Emerges as Serious Challenger to Ducati in 2025 MotoGP Mid-Season.

Ducati, the Italian manufacturer that has dominated MotoGP for the past two years, is now facing serious pressure from its rivals, especially Aprilia. At the recent Czech MotoGP round in Brno, Ducati only managed to have two riders finish in the top 10 — their lowest result in 66 races. This signals that other teams are making significant progress in the first half of the 2025 season.

Despite Ducati fielding fewer bikes on the grid, competitors like Yamaha and Honda, who struggled recently, have shown improvement. KTM enjoyed its best race at Brno, while Aprilia stole the spotlight by winning at Silverstone. MotoGP experts from Crash.net view Aprilia as the most consistent and promising manufacturer this season.

Alex Whitworth said, “Aprilia has demonstrated steady podium pace across various circuits, unlike KTM, which showed solid performance in only a few races.” Peter McLaren added, “Despite trailing in the constructor standings and missing star rider Jorge Martin due to injury, Aprilia bounced back strongly with Marco Bezzecchi leading the team and regularly reaching the podium.”

Lewis Duncan highlighted Aprilia’s remarkable progress despite missing Martin for most of the season. “Their victory at the British GP proved Aprilia has a strong package — a great rider and a competitive bike.” Derry Munikartono emphasized that Aprilia’s RS-GP has become one of the most complete bikes on the grid, agile, balanced, and adaptable to various circuits.

“Aprilia also hasn’t blindly copied Ducati but instead focused on developing their superior aerodynamics,” he said. Jordan Moreland noted that Aprilia has established itself as the second-best team in MotoGP, with Martin’s return expected to further boost their performance.

With this trend, the 2025 MotoGP championship battle is set to become even more exciting. Aprilia’s rapid progress and the return of Jorge Martin will put more pressure on Ducati, especially heading into upcoming rounds in Austria and Germany. Ducati, long the king of the track, will need to maintain consistency to keep their throne.
