Police Uncover Child Exploitation Case Involving Minors, 10 Suspects Arrested.

Jakarta – Police have uncovered a child exploitation case involving 12 suspects, who recruited minors through Facebook to work as karaoke hostesses in Jakarta. The case was revealed on Friday, August 8, 2025, with 10 suspects already arrested and two others still being pursued.

Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief, Kombes Pol. Ade Ary Syam Indradi, explained that the suspects—identified as TY alias BY, RH, VFO alias S, FW alias Mak C, EH alias Mami E, NR alias Mami R, SS, OJN, HAR alias R, RH, Z, and FS alias F alias C—recruited children by promising a wage of IDR 125,000 per hour to work as karaoke hostesses. Upon arrival in Jakarta, the victims were housed in an apartment before being taken to a bar called Bar Starmoon in West Jakarta to work.

“We found that besides working as karaoke hostesses, the child victims were also forced to have sexual relations with several men, with payment ranging from IDR 175,000 to IDR 225,000,” said Kombes Ade Ary. He added that suspect HAR alias R is a juvenile and was therefore only subjected to mandatory reporting. Meanwhile, suspects Z and FS alias F alias C remain at large.

This case has raised serious concerns regarding online child exploitation and the protection of minors from sexual crimes. Metro Jaya Police continue to investigate and ensure that the perpetrators face appropriate legal consequences to serve as a deterrent.

Jakarta, August 8, 2025 – The Metro Jaya Police are currently tracking down the owner of an anonymous account that spread false information, or hoaxes, about the anger of Metro Jaya Police Chief, Irjen Pol. Karyoto. The investigation aims to take legal action against the deliberate spread of misleading content designed to provoke the public.

Metro Jaya Police Chief Irjen Pol. Karyoto confirmed that legal proceedings will be carried out against the account owner. “Definitely. It’s being traced,” Karyoto said on Friday (8/8/25). He added that accounts like these are usually run by paid buzzers often operated from overseas. “Usually foreign accounts, expensive buzzers,” he explained.

The spread of these hoaxes is seen as a threat that could cause unrest and disturb security within the Metro Jaya jurisdiction. The Police Chief urges the public to stay vigilant and not easily believe unverified information. Metro Jaya Police will continue monitoring and firmly acting against those who spread false news to maintain public order and trust.

Currently, the cyber crime team at Metro Jaya Police is conducting digital tracking and coordinating with internet service providers to identify the culprit. The case’s resolution is expected to deter hoax spreaders and keep public spaces safe and peaceful.
