Pecco Bagnaia Surprised to Be Marc Marquez’s Teammate at Ducati, But Says It’s Been a Positive Experience

Pecco Bagnaia Surprised to Be Marc Marquez’s Teammate at Ducati, But Says It’s Been a Positive Experience.

Double MotoGP world champion Pecco Bagnaia admitted he was surprised that being Marc Marquez’s teammate at the Ducati factory team in 2025 turned out to be a much more positive experience than he expected.

Marc Marquez made headlines in the rider market last year when he publicly rejected an offer to join the Pramac Ducati team for the 2025 season, insisting that he wanted a full factory bike—either with Gresini or the official Ducati team.

Eventually, Ducati gave in to his demands and signed Marquez to the factory squad, forcing the team to reverse its earlier plan to promote 2024 world champion Jorge Martin.

When Marquez joined Ducati, many expected sparks to fly between him and Bagnaia. But the reality has been quite the opposite.

This season, Bagnaia has struggled to match Marquez’s performance. The six-time MotoGP world champion has been dominant and is on track to secure the 2025 title, while Bagnaia has only managed two Grand Prix victories so far—down from 11 wins last season.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Bagnaia dismissed claims that having Marquez as a teammate had affected him psychologically.

“At first, I was a little worried,” Bagnaia said. “He used to say that he liked to mess with his teammates, but instead, it’s been the opposite. It’s actually been very positive. My experience working with him has been really enjoyable.”

Bagnaia also shared a fun moment they had together in Japan after Marquez clinched his seventh world title. “We went to a karaoke bar, drank sake, and had a good time. Marc is one of the strongest riders in history. In recent years, he’s been dominant. You can only learn from someone like him,” he added.

Meanwhile, Marquez will miss the upcoming Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix due to a right shoulder injury sustained in a first-lap crash with Marco Bezzecchi during the Indonesian round. Ducati’s test rider Michele Pirro will fill in for Marquez, though for now, only for the Australian Grand Prix.

Bagnaia seemed to make progress in Japan when he performed strongly on a bike fitted with several GP24 parts that helped him regain lost confidence. However, in Mandalika, he struggled again, dropping down the order and recording two DNFs.

“We tried many things, but for some reason, nothing clicked. It’s been a tough season, but I’m still pushing to find a solution,” Bagnaia admitted.

Although this season hasn’t gone as planned, the good relationship between Ducati’s star riders has become one of MotoGP’s most unexpected storylines. Instead of turning into bitter rivals, Bagnaia and Marquez have shown respect and teamwork both on and off the track.

Marc Marquez Injured After Collision with Bezzecchi at Mandalika MotoGP as Ducati Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Debrief

Marc Marquez Injured After Collision with Bezzecchi at Mandalika MotoGP as Ducati Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Debrief.

A new behind-the-scenes video from Ducati shows Marc Marquez’s first debrief after his crash with Marco Bezzecchi at the Indonesian Grand Prix in Mandalika. The incident left Marquez with a serious shoulder injury.

The crash happened at the fast Turn 7 right-hander during the opening lap of Sunday’s race. Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi clipped the back of Marquez’s bike, causing both riders to crash out of the race.

Marquez suffered a heavy fall that immediately caused pain in his right shoulder. After a medical examination, doctors diagnosed him with a fracture at the base of the coracoid process and a ligament injury to his right shoulder.

Because of this injury, Ducati confirmed that Marquez will miss the upcoming Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix.

Speaking after the race in Mandalika, Marquez said he felt sad about what happened but described the crash as a racing incident. He also urged fans to remain calm after Bezzecchi faced online backlash.

The injury came just a week after Marquez celebrated his seventh MotoGP world championship title, making the setback even more emotional for him and his fans.

In the latest episode of Ducati’s Inside documentary series, Marquez shared his first debrief with his crew about what happened before the crash.

“When I touched the gravel, I was going really fast,” Marquez said. “I had a good start, the grip was fine… normal. When I left the garage, there was something a bit strange, but then everything was okay.”

He continued, “He touched me slightly from behind, and I was flying. I know it wasn’t my fault. It wasn’t a section where we were slow.”

In the video, Marquez’s crew chief Marco Rigamonti joked that they would “see you in Valencia at the Gala,” implying that Marquez might miss the rest of the season.

Marquez responded with a laugh, saying, “Come on, no. I’ll try before that. But it depends—I’m not sure how long it takes for the ligament to heal.”

Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi escaped serious injury in the incident but is expected to meet with FIM stewards ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, where he may face a penalty for causing the collision.

The incident adds another dramatic chapter to the 2025 MotoGP season, which has already been full of unexpected moments. Fans around the world are now hoping for Marquez’s speedy recovery and return to the track, as his fighting spirit continues to inspire the MotoGP community.

Toprak Razgatlioglu Set to Receive Major Support from BMW Ahead of 2026 MotoGP Debut

Toprak Razgatlioglu Set to Receive Major Support from BMW Ahead of 2026 MotoGP Debut.

Toprak Razgatlioglu, the Turkish World Superbike (WorldSBK) champion, is reportedly set to get significant backing from BMW as he prepares to move to MotoGP in the 2026 season. Although still under contract with BMW through the end of 2025, Razgatlioglu may get early access to a Yamaha MotoGP bike to help him get a head start before his official debut in the premier class.

Currently leading the 2025 WorldSBK standings, Razgatlioglu is aiming to secure his third WorldSBK championship title. However, next year, he faces the challenge of adapting to new tires and a completely different bike in MotoGP. His move also involves switching teams, leaving BMW in WorldSBK for the Pramac Yamaha MotoGP squad.

According to reports from GPOne, BMW is fully supportive of Toprak riding the Yamaha MotoGP bike earlier than usual. Typically, new MotoGP riders test their bikes for the upcoming season during the post-season test in Valencia, but Razgatlioglu might get on the bike as early as November 2025, ahead of the official test. BMW understands that Razgatlioglu will no longer be competing against them in WorldSBK, so they are happy to assist his transition.

The 2025 WorldSBK season will conclude on October 19 in Jerez, Spain, where Razgatlioglu hopes to be crowned champion for the third time. Having the chance to test a MotoGP bike early will give him valuable experience and data before the new season starts. His teammate for the 2026 MotoGP season at Pramac is still undecided, with current riders Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira’s futures yet to be confirmed.

This smooth transition and early support from BMW and Yamaha could give Razgatlioglu a strong advantage as he steps into the top tier of motorcycle racing. It also highlights positive collaboration between teams to support rider development and healthy competition on the track.

Maverick Vinales: I Beat Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, I Have to Remind Myself to Stay Motivated

Jakarta, August 9, 2025 – Maverick Vinales admitted that he often has to remind himself that he once beat legendary riders like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Dani Pedrosa to keep his motivation high amid his current struggles to be a regular frontrunner in MotoGP.

Touted as a future world champion early in his MotoGP career, Vinales made an instant impact when he joined Yamaha in 2017, winning the first two races of the season in Qatar and Argentina. During his four full seasons as Rossi’s teammate at Yamaha, Vinales outscored the seven-time premier class champion three times. In both 2017 and 2019, he finished third in the championship standings, behind only Honda’s Marc Marquez and Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso.

However, Vinales’ time at Yamaha ended abruptly in the middle of the 2021 season after accusations that he deliberately tried to damage his engine during the Styrian Grand Prix. Soon after, he switched to Aprilia and worked to rebuild his reputation. It wasn’t until the start of last season that he finally returned to the top step after a three-year winless drought.

Now racing with Tech3 KTM, Vinales has shown a quick adaptation to the RC16 bike. Although he is not yet consistently fighting at the front, he keeps himself motivated by reflecting on his past achievements. “Sometimes I have to remind myself that I beat Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa,” Vinales told GPOne. “‘Maverick, you’ve fought with some really big sharks, now it’s your moment!’”

He added that every stage of a career has its ups and downs. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to fight at the top consistently, but in the past, I was able to do that. There are many reasons behind this — from the package to the competitiveness of others. That’s why I want to remind myself who I’ve fought with, to keep motivated and believe in what I’m doing.”

Looking ahead, Vinales is expected to become more competitive in the upcoming MotoGP rounds with Tech3 KTM. His experience fighting top riders in the past and the team’s support could help him climb back to the front of the pack.
