Sumbar Police Chief Receives High Praise for Successfully Uncovering Drug Cases.

The firm actions taken by the West Sumatra Police (Polda Sumbar) in uncovering multiple drug cases have earned them significant praise. Support is pouring in from local leaders, including the members of the Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Communication Forum) of West Sumatra, who have expressed their appreciation for the hard work of the Sumbar Police Chief and his team.

This recognition was delivered during a press conference on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, as a gesture of support for the ongoing fight against drugs in the region of Minangkabau.

The Chairman of the West Sumatra Regional Parliament (DPRD), Muhidi, shared his concerns about the growing issue of drug abuse, which has now affected many layers of society.

“Today, we are facing a harsh reality where drugs have infiltrated various parts of our community. This is a serious threat, especially since West Sumatra is known for producing national leaders,” Muhidi stated.

He emphasized that the battle against drugs is not solely the responsibility of the police but is a shared duty. The DPRD, he said, is fully committed to supporting all efforts at the provincial, city, and district levels to create effective strategies in combating the drug trade.

Echoing these sentiments, Marwansyah from the Kesbangpol (National Unity and Politics Agency) of West Sumatra also expressed his highest appreciation for the work of the West Sumatra Police and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

“Their efforts are filled with risks, but it’s something that must be faced. The provincial government invites all communities and local governments to actively commit to preventing and halting the circulation of drugs in our region. We all know that drugs are the root cause of many crimes. Thank you to the Police Chief and his team for their tireless efforts to protect our future generations,” he added.

Brigadier General TNI Mahfud, the Commander of Korem 032 Wirabraja, also expressed his pride in the performance of the West Sumatra Police.

“We are proud and salute the West Sumatra Police for their extraordinary efforts in safeguarding and building a better future for the next generation by fighting drug abuse, which threatens our future,” he said.

The unanimous support from regional leaders reflects strong solidarity and commitment to fighting drugs in West Sumatra. The full backing from the DPRD, the appreciation from the provincial government, and the pride expressed by the military commander provide positive energy for law enforcement officers to continue their mission of dismantling drug networks at their roots.
