| Bareskrim Police Uncovers Online Gambling Operation, 4 Suspects Arrested. |
The investigators from the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) at Bareskrim Polri have successfully uncovered an online gambling syndicate, arresting four individuals involved in managing the illegal online gambling site. The arrested suspects are DH, AF, RJ, and QR, with one of them being a foreign national (WNA) from China.
Brigadier General Pol. Himawan Bayu Aji, the Director of Dittipidsiber at Bareskrim Polri, explained that the operation began with the first arrest on March 13, 2025, in Bandung Regency. The first suspect, DH, has been detained at the Bareskrim Polri Detention Center.
"Our investigators immediately expanded the investigation and arrested the other three suspects—AF, RJ, and QR—on April 30, 2025," said Brigadier General Pol. Himawan in a written statement on Friday (May 2, 2025).
QR, who turned out to be the mastermind behind the operation, is a foreign national from China. He was responsible for managing the online gambling site with the domain h55.hiwin.care, which was operating in Indonesia.
During the investigation, authorities seized important evidence, including mobile phones, ATM cards, and cash amounting to IDR 14 billion. The four suspects are now facing charges under several criminal laws related to cybercrime, including Article 45 Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 27 Paragraph 2 of the ITE Law, Articles 82 and 85 of the Fund Transfer Law, Article 303 of the Penal Code, and Articles 3, 4, and 5 of the Money Laundering Law (TPPU), with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
This success highlights Bareskrim Polri's commitment to eradicating illegal online gambling activities that pose a threat to society.
