Lampung – Officers from the Highway Patrol Unit (PJR) of the Lampung Regional Police successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle four kilograms of marijuana along the Bakauheni–Terbanggi Besar (Bakter) Toll Road on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, around 1:30 AM.
The discovery occurred during a routine patrol at Km 104 on Lane B. Officers became suspicious of a Simpati Star passenger bus traveling from the direction of Terbanggi Besar. Upon stopping the vehicle and checking its luggage compartment, they found a suspicious black backpack.
“Inside the bag, officers found four large packages of marijuana wrapped in brown duct tape and concealed with an orange rain cover,” said AKBP Indra Gilang Kusuma, Head of PJR Lampung Regional Police.
The officers also apprehended a man identified as HR (25), a resident of Medan, North Sumatra, who admitted that the backpack was his and that he was carrying the marijuana.
“Yes, HR has confessed that the bag was his,” Indra confirmed.
HR and the seized evidence were immediately handed over to the Narcotics Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) of the Lampung Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
“We only handled the interception and initial arrest. Further action will be taken by the Narcotics Division,” he added.
This successful operation highlights the continued commitment of the Lampung Police to combat drug trafficking, especially through public transportation routes.
