| Kirsten Dunst ready to return in Spider Man 4 with Tobey Maguire but with one condition. |
Actress Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane in Sam Raimi's Spider Man trilogy, has expressed her willingness to return for Spider Man 4. However, Dunst has one condition. She wants her character Mary Jane and Peter Parker to already be parents. This statement comes amid the ongoing shooting of the latest Spider Man movie in London, which is scheduled to premiere on July 30, 2026.
Dunst explained, "We’re doing it again with Tobey… with kids. That would be really fun. But I’m not sure if fans would like it." Her comment hints at a different storyline if Raimi decides to move forward with a fourth film starring the original cast. Spider Man 4 was originally planned for release in 2011 but was canceled due to creative differences among the production team.
After the cancellation, Sony rebooted the franchise with Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker under director Marc Webb. Later, the rights transferred to Marvel Studios, which cast Tom Holland as the lead. Marvel is now producing the new Spider Man film, subtitled "A New Day," which is rumored to be the start of a new trilogy. Under Marvel, the franchise has become one of the most successful superhero series ever, with the last three films earning nearly 4 billion dollars worldwide.
Dunst’s potential return in Spider Man 4 alongside Tobey Maguire could bring a strong sense of nostalgia for longtime Raimi fans. If confirmed, it would also be a strategic move to unite old and new fans while strengthening a franchise that has become a modern superhero film icon.
