Sungai Buluh Farmers and PT KAP Reach Agreement to Reopen Land Access, Conversion Set for December 2025

Sungai Buluh Farmers and PT KAP Reach Agreement to Reopen Land Access, Conversion Set for December 2025

SINTANG – After a long process, the land dispute between farmers from Sungai Buluh Village and PT KAP has finally found common ground. During a coordination meeting held at the Betung Jaya Production Cooperative Office in Sungai Buluh Village on Tuesday (September 23, 2025), both parties agreed to reopen the land access that had been previously blocked by local farmers.

The meeting, which took place in a constructive atmosphere, was attended by the Sungai Buluh Village Head, traditional leaders, community representatives, members of the Betung Jaya Cooperative, and representatives from PT KAP. It served as a crucial step toward resolving the ongoing land dispute and addressing farmers’ demands regarding plasma profit-sharing.

The meeting produced six key points as the foundation for the joint resolution. Among them is the plan to submit a land conversion proposal for Estate KD 4 and KD 8 to the Sintang District Plantation Office, scheduled for December 2025.

In addition, PT KAP committed to assist in repairing a bridge in Block G97 of Sungai Buluh Village, with wood materials to be provided by the village. The company will also conduct a field verification in October 2025 to determine which lands are eligible for plasma profit-sharing.

Meanwhile, the farmers who had previously blocked access agreed to reopen the land while waiting for the agreed points to be carried out. However, they warned that if the commitments are not fulfilled, they will once again close off the land.

The agreement was officially endorsed by Betung Jaya Cooperative Chairperson Idut Asian, Cooperative Supervisory Chairperson, and PT KAP Operations Leader Joko Prasetyo, witnessed by village officials and community leaders.

This resolution marks an important step toward rebuilding communication between the farmers and the company. It is hoped that this agreement will not only end the conflict but also open a new chapter of cooperation built on trust, transparency, and sustainable development in the plantation sector.
