Warm Moment at the Gaza Peace Summit: Prabowo’s Handshake and Trump’s Praise Mark Global Recognition for Indonesia

The atmosphere inside the International Congress Centre in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday, October 13, 2025, was filled with warmth and history. The world witnessed a turning point — the end of the long-standing conflict in Gaza. During this historic occasion, world leaders gathered to sign a peace and ceasefire agreement, marking a major step toward stability in the Middle East.

After the signing ceremony, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the international media. With his signature confident tone, Trump expressed appreciation to several world leaders who played key roles in achieving the peace agreement.

“With us today is President Prabowo, an incredible figure from Indonesia,” Trump said as he turned toward Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who stood among other heads of state.

The world’s attention focused on the moment when the two leaders walked toward each other and shared a firm handshake — a gesture that symbolized global recognition of Indonesia’s important role in the peace diplomacy process in the Middle East.

As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia once again proved itself as a bridge of peace and a guardian of humanitarian values on the international stage. President Prabowo’s presence at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit reflected Indonesia’s long-standing commitment to supporting global peace and justice.

In another part of his speech, Trump continued his remarks with more praise for Indonesia.
“We’ve talked about Indonesia. I just want to say — it’s a great country, a strong nation, and doing an incredible job,” Trump said with a tone of admiration.

In a setting filled with diplomacy and symbolism, the handshake between President Prabowo and President Trump became a new emblem of cross-regional cooperation toward lasting peace.

For Indonesia, active involvement in the Gaza peace process is more than just a diplomatic step — it’s a reflection of the country’s constitutional mandate to participate in maintaining a peaceful, just, and civilized world, as stated in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution.

This moment also reinforces Indonesia’s position as a key player on the global stage, carrying a message that diplomacy and humanity remain at the heart of its foreign policy.
