Landak Regency has once again made an impressive achievement! In October 2025, Landak recorded the highest rice planting area in West Kalimantan, even surpassing the national target.
According to data from the West Kalimantan Provincial Office of Food Crops and Horticulture, the Additional Rice Planting Area (LTT) in Landak reached 14,946 hectares. This puts Landak at the top spot in the province, far exceeding the national target of 9,652 hectares. In other words, Landak achieved 154.85 percent of the target — an extraordinary accomplishment!
Landak Regent Dr. Karolin Margret Natasa expressed her pride and appreciation for the achievement.
“This is the result of the hard work of our farmers, agricultural field officers, and everyone who continues to support the agricultural sector in Landak,” she said on Saturday (Nov 1, 2025).
From the total planting area, regular rice fields contributed 6,314.5 hectares, while optimized land (Opla) accounted for 426 hectares. The daily planting rate reached an average of 741.8 hectares, showing the strong spirit of Landak’s farmers.
According to Bupati Karolin, this success reflects Landak’s strong commitment to supporting regional and national food security.
“We continue to encourage farmers to stay motivated despite unpredictable weather conditions. Food commodities are now one of the government’s main focuses,” she added.
Landak also showed great progress in corn planting, achieving 367.9 hectares in October — exceeding the monthly target of 325 hectares, or 113.2 percent of the goal.
Province-wide, the total rice planting area in October reached 77,440 hectares, with Landak contributing the largest portion — about 20 percent of the total.
With such outstanding achievements in both rice and corn production, Landak Regency is solidifying its position as one of the main food-producing regions in West Kalimantan. This success also demonstrates the power of collaboration between local government, farmer groups, and the community in maintaining food security amid challenges.
“We’re proud because this cooperation not only boosts production but also improves the welfare of our farmers in Landak,” Bupati Karolin said with enthusiasm.
