Christmas 2025 at ATR/BPN: Minister Nusron Urges Humanity to Be the Spirit of Public Service.

Jakarta – Christmas is not only a religious celebration, but also a meaningful moment for reflection and renewal. This message was emphasized by Indonesia’s Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning and Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, during the Christmas Worship and Celebration of the Christian Fellowship of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, held on Friday, December 19, 2025.

The event took place at the Prona Hall of the ATR/BPN Ministry in Jakarta and was attended by ministry officials and employees, both in person and online. In his remarks, Minister Nusron highlighted the importance of making religious values the foundation of public service and daily work.

“At the core, all religious teachings share one essential value: humanity. And humanity means helping one another,” Nusron said. “This value must be reflected in public policies, especially in land affairs and spatial planning, by serving people fairly without discrimination.”

The Meaning of ‘Nasrani’ and the Spirit of Helping Others

Minister Nusron also explained the meaning behind the word Nasrani, which originates from the Arabic word Nashoro, meaning to help. According to him, this spirit of helping others represents the true character of Christians and aligns with the universal teachings of all religions that uphold human dignity.

He stressed that this value should guide the work culture at ATR/BPN, especially in serving the public equally, regardless of background, social status, or beliefs.

“When the spirit of helping becomes our work ethic, public services will naturally become more just and humane,” he added.

Land Management Is About Managing Human Life

During his speech, Nusron also underlined the strategic role of ATR/BPN in human development. He explained that land management is not merely an administrative matter, but one that directly affects people’s lives and future well-being.

He pointed out four key aspects of land governance: land tenure, land value, land use, and land development. Mistakes in land policy, he warned, could have serious consequences for society.

“If we make the wrong decisions about land, we are essentially making the wrong decisions about people,” Nusron said. “That’s why serving others through our work should be seen as an act of worship.”

Christmas as a Moment for Reflection and Renewal

At the close of his remarks, Minister Nusron extended his Christmas greetings to all ATR/BPN employees celebrating the holiday. He encouraged them to use Christmas as an opportunity to strengthen both their faith and commitment to public service.

“Let us make religious teachings a source of inspiration in our work. When we do that, every step we take will be guided by compassion and integrity,” he said.

Land Certificates and Social Contributions Highlight the Celebration

The Christmas celebration also featured symbolic and social activities. A total of 14 land ownership certificates for churches and Christian foundations were handed over to eight recipients.

In addition, the Christian Fellowship of the Ministry of ATR/BPN provided support to the Indonesian Bible Society and educational assistance to high-achieving children of ATR/BPN employees. The handover was conducted by Minister Nusron, accompanied by Christmas 2025 Committee Chair Darman and Chair of the Christian Fellowship of ATR/BPN, Chriesty Elisabeth Lengkong.

Warm Christmas Atmosphere and Togetherness

The event was further enriched by a choir performance from ATR/BPN employees, followed by a Christmas worship service. Senior ministry officials also took part in the celebration, which was broadcast online via Zoom and the official ATR/BPN YouTube channel.

This year’s Christmas celebration served as a reminder that meaningful public service begins with empathy and compassion. As Minister Nusron emphasized, when faith-based values guide daily work, public service becomes more sincere, humane, and impactful.
