SEKADAU – Ahead of New Year’s Eve 2026, the Sekadau Police Department has intensified security preparations to ensure public safety and order. Through a Tactical Wall Game (TWG), the police refined their security strategies so that New Year celebrations can run safely and smoothly.
The TWG was presented by the Head of Operations of Sekadau Police, Commissioner Samsul Bakri, after a security readiness roll call at the Sekadau Police Headquarters on Jalan Merdeka Timur, Wednesday, December 31, 2025. This activity is an important part of Operation Lilin Kapuas 2025, which is carried out to anticipate security challenges during the year-end period.
Commissioner Bakri explained that the TWG aims to align the understanding of all personnel regarding operational patterns and on-the-ground strategies. With this approach, every officer involved has a clear picture of what actions to take if potential security disturbances arise.
A total of 193 Sekadau Police personnel have been deployed for New Year’s Eve security, supported by the Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob) Battalion C of the West Kalimantan Regional Police. Officers are stationed at 15 strategic points across the city, including Jalan Merdeka Timur, Jalan Merdeka Selatan, and Jalan Panglima Naga. All personnel are scheduled to be at their assigned posts starting at 9:00 p.m. local time.
In addition to static security, intensified patrols are also being conducted. Community policing officers are carrying out patrols while delivering public safety messages, while patrols using two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles are carried out by the Samapta Unit and the Traffic Police to keep the situation under control.
Security is also focused on religious activities. As many as 91 personnel have been assigned specifically to secure churches holding New Year’s Eve Mass across Sekadau Regency, ensuring worshippers can pray in a safe and comfortable environment.
Beyond the city center and places of worship, Sekadau Police are also paying close attention to tourist destinations. From December 29, 2025 to January 4, 2026, officers are deployed to secure popular tourist spots such as Penanjung Island in Sekadau and Batu Jato in Pantok Village, Nanga Taman District, which are expected to attract large crowds.
In his briefing, Commissioner Bakri emphasized that all personnel must carry out their duties responsibly, remain vigilant, and prioritize a humane and respectful approach when interacting with the public. According to him, the TWG is a vital tool to unify steps and strengthen coordination in the field.
“This Tactical Wall Game is conducted to align our perceptions. It outlines the security plans and strategies that will be implemented when facing situations requiring special handling, especially those related to potential public security and order disturbances,” he said.
New Year’s Eve security involves several task forces under Operation Lilin Kapuas 2025, including Preventive, Preemptive, Traffic Safety and Order, Law Enforcement, Public Relations, and Operational Support units.
If there is a surge in crowds that cannot be controlled, the police have prepared a layered security scheme using a regional zoning system. Personnel from Sekadau Hulu, Nanga Taman, and Nanga Mahap Police Sectors will be on standby. If the situation escalates further, additional support will come from the Belitang Hilir, Belitang, and Belitang Hulu Police Sectors.
“God willing, this New Year’s Eve security operation will run safely, orderly, and under control. Do not let your guard down and always maintain a high level of vigilance,” Commissioner Bakri concluded.
With these thorough preparations, the Sekadau Police hope the community can welcome New Year 2026 in a safe, peaceful, and joyful atmosphere.
