| Romania’s Bold Dracula Land Plan: A $1 Billion Mega Theme Park Inspired by Dracula — Brilliant Vision or Just Big Talk? |
Romania is once again in the global spotlight. The country famously associated with the legend of Dracula has announced plans for Dracula Land, a massive Dracula-themed amusement park that aims to become the largest entertainment complex in Europe. Valued at around $1 billion (approximately IDR 17,000 trillion), the project promises cutting-edge attractions, digital innovation, and millions of visitors every year.
But behind the grand promises, many observers are raising serious questions. So far, much of Dracula Land looks impressive in concept art and digital visuals — but real-world progress remains unclear.

Dracula Land is planned to be located near Bucharest, Romania’s capital, just 15–20 minutes from the international airport. This strategic location is meant to make the park easily accessible for international tourists.
The total area is projected to cover around 780,000 square meters, with developers claiming the park could attract up to 3 million visitors annually once fully operational.

Dracula Land is not designed as a typical theme park. According to the plan, it will feature six themed zones with more than 40 attractions.
Visitors would enter through the Moon District, a stylized main street filled with shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The Transylvania Zone will recreate forests and traditional villages, complete with large-scale rides.
At the heart of the park stands the Dracula Castle, envisioned as the main visual landmark. This area is expected to include a maze and the park’s flagship roller coaster.
There will also be a Family Kingdom, aimed at families and children, introducing vampires and supernatural creatures from various cultures. Other areas include a Victorian-style London Quarter with themed shows and attractions, and a New Orleans Port inspired by the festive atmosphere of Mardi Gras.
More Than Just a Theme Park

The ambition goes far beyond rides and roller coasters. The full Dracula Land project also includes:
A massive water park and thermal spa with at least 30 water attractions
A racetrack and motor park
A multifunctional arena for 22,500 spectators, designed for concerts, festivals, and esports tournaments
A luxury outlet shopping area
Large food and dining zones
Several hotels across different price ranges
If completed as planned, Dracula Land would function almost like a full-scale entertainment city.
Big Names Behind the Concept, Yet Doubts Remain

The architectural concept is being developed by Chris Lange, former creative director of Europa-Park, one of Europe’s largest and most successful theme parks. The project is led by developer Dragos Dobrecsu, who describes Dracula Land as a national symbol rather than just a commercial venture.
According to the developers, the project could create around 5,000 jobs and contribute up to $5 billion (around IDR 85,000 trillion) to Romania’s economy over the next decade.
Metaverse, AI, and DraculaCoin
One of the most talked-about aspects of Dracula Land is its digital vision. The park is planned as a hybrid ecosystem, combining physical attractions with a metaverse version of the park, AI-based personalization, NFT features, and even its own cryptocurrency called DraculaCoin.
While innovative, this digital-heavy approach has also fueled skepticism.
Too Ambitious to Be Real?

Several technology and entertainment media outlets have pointed out that most of the visuals released so far appear to be AI-generated images. This has led to concerns that the project is still at an early concept stage rather than moving toward actual construction.
The proposed timeline also seems extremely aggressive. Developers claim the first phase began in 2024, with major construction scheduled for 2025–2026 and a partial opening in 2027. Industry experts note that projects of this scale typically require many years of public planning, approvals, and visible groundwork.
Journalists who attempted to contact the project team and listed architectural firms reportedly received no response, further increasing doubts about how far the project has truly progressed.
A Grand Vision Still Hanging in the Balance
There’s no denying that Dracula Land sounds exciting. The blend of legendary storytelling, advanced technology, and massive economic ambition makes it one of the most intriguing entertainment proposals in Europe today.
Still, the biggest question remains unanswered: will Dracula Land become a real-world destination built from steel and concrete, or will it remain an impressive digital dream?
For now, the world is watching — and waiting.
