The Metro Jaya Regional Police have reached a crucial stage in the investigation into the kidnapping that ended in the brutal killing of a BRI branch head identified as MIP. After the case files were declared complete, investigators from the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation officially handed over 15 suspects along with evidence to the East Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.

The confirmation was delivered directly by Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto. He stated that the handover process, known as stage two, was carried out on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

“Yes, the stage two handover has been completed at the East Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office with a total of 15 suspects,” Budi Hermanto told reporters.

The 15 suspects submitted to prosecutors are identified by the initials C alias K, DH, AAM, JP, E, REH, JRS, AT, EWB, MU, DSD, AW, EWH, RS, and AS. Each of them is believed to have played a different role in the kidnapping that ultimately led to the victim’s death.

In addition, two other individuals, Kopda FH and Serka N, are also implicated in the case. However, because they are active members of the Indonesian Armed Forces, their legal process is being handled separately through the military justice system by a military prosecutor.

Another significant development came from the prosecutors reviewing the case. After examining the files, they requested that investigators apply more serious charges. As a result, the suspects are no longer charged solely with kidnapping, but also face murder charges.

Initially, the suspects were charged under Article 328 of the Criminal Code regarding kidnapping and or Article 333 paragraph 3 concerning unlawful deprivation of liberty resulting in death. Prosecutors now believe the elements of murder have been met and have requested the inclusion of Article 338 and or Article 340 of the Criminal Code, which relate to murder and premeditated murder.

This case has drawn widespread public attention, especially due to the victim’s position in the banking sector and the organized nature of the crime. Many hope that with the case now in the hands of prosecutors, the legal process will move forward transparently and the perpetrators will receive sentences that truly reflect the gravity of their actions.
