A shocking video from Gowa has taken over social media, showing a man with his hands and feet tied, being dragged by a motorcycle in Tompobulu District, South Sulawesi. The man was accused by residents of assaulting and raping a child with disabilities, triggering a wave of anger in the community.
Gowa Police Chief, AKBP Muhammad Aldy Sulaiman, confirmed that officers immediately followed up after the video went viral.
“We’ve coordinated with the Tompobulu Police. Thankfully, the situation on the ground is now under control,” Aldy said on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Police Verify Alleged Rape Case
According to Aldy, early information suggests the man was attacked by residents over allegations of rape. However, he emphasized that the police are still verifying the facts to avoid misinformation.
“We need to cross-check the details to ensure no false reports spread,” he explained.
Multiple Teams Deployed
To handle the case thoroughly, Gowa Police deployed several units, including the medical team (Dokkes) for external examinations, along with officers from Samapta, Criminal Investigation, Intelligence, and Community Guidance.
“We involved our medical team to conduct an external examination on the alleged victim,” Aldy said.
Police have also stationed personnel in Tompobulu to maintain security and prevent further unrest. As of now, the man’s current condition remains unknown.
“Our goal is to ensure the situation in Tompobulu stays safe and stable,” he added.
What’s Seen in the Viral Video
One of the videos shows the man tied up and dragged by a motorcycle, while another clip captures him being carried by locals using a bamboo pole. The disturbing footage quickly spread online, intensifying public concern.
