| BNN Urges Public to Report Drug Abuse and Illegal Narcotics Networks to Protect Indonesia’s Young Generation. |
Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is calling on the public to stay alert and actively report any signs of drug abuse or illegal narcotics distribution in their communities. The message comes directly from Budi Wibowo, Acting Deputy for Eradication at BNN, who emphasized that public participation is a key factor in the fight against drugs.
Speaking on Tuesday (January 6, 2026), Budi encouraged people not to hesitate if they notice suspicious activities, especially those linked to drug trafficking or misuse. According to him, early reports from the community can help authorities act faster and prevent wider harm.
“If you see unusual activities, particularly related to illegal drugs, please coordinate and report them immediately to BNN officers or the nearest law enforcement agencies so they can be followed up,” Budi stated.
His remarks were delivered after BNN revealed a major drug bust involving an illegal narcotics laboratory discovered inside an apartment complex in the Ancol area of Jakarta. The lab was used to produce drugs in the form of liquid vape substances and so-called “happy water,” a trend that has increasingly targeted young people.
Budi stressed that the responsibility to combat drug abuse does not rest solely with law enforcement. Every layer of society has a shared duty to protect the nation’s future generation from the dangers of narcotics.
He also underlined that the operation proves the government’s firm presence and commitment in eradicating drug abuse and illegal drug circulation. This effort, he said, aligns with the long-term vision of building a strong and healthy “Golden Indonesia.”
“We need solid collaboration from all parties. Together, we must declare war and fight back against drug dealers and international cartels,” Budi added.
During the raid, BNN and a joint task force arrested four individuals who have now been named suspects. Two suspects, identified as HHS and DM, were allegedly caught carrying raw materials for narcotics, including MDMA and ethomidate. Meanwhile, PS and HSN are suspected of acting as field controllers and managing the operational side of the network.
Authorities believe the illegal laboratory is part of an international drug trafficking network, making the case a serious national concern.
All suspects are currently being detained for intensive investigation. They are charged under Indonesia’s Narcotics Law No. 35 of 2009, which carries severe penalties. These include life imprisonment or the death penalty, prison sentences ranging from 5 to 20 years, and fines of up to 10 billion rupiah.
BNN hopes this case will raise public awareness about the growing threat of drugs in everyday environments. Officials remind citizens that a single report from the community can make a significant difference in saving lives and securing the country’s future.
