| Busted Big Time: Police Seize 27 Kg of Crystal Meth and 5,000 Happy Five Pills in Tangerang. |
Imagine nearly 30 kilograms of drugs hitting the streets. That’s thousands of lives at risk. Luckily, police shut it down before it could spread any further.
The Narcotics Directorate of Jakarta Metro Police has uncovered a major drug trafficking operation in Tangerang, Banten, arresting two suspects identified as D (36) and S (45).
In the bust, officers seized a massive haul: 27.168 kilograms of crystal meth along with 5,000 Happy Five (H5) pills. Authorities estimate the drugs are worth around IDR 41.7 billion, potentially saving more than 140,000 people from drug abuse.
Tip-Off From Locals Leads to First Arrest
The case started with a tip from local residents who noticed suspicious activity in the Tanah Tinggi area of Tangerang City. Acting on the information, the Sub-Directorate 2 of the Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit launched an investigation.
Their first move paid off. On Saturday (January 24, 2026) at around 1:45 p.m., officers arrested suspect D inside a Honda CR-V parked near SDN 6 Tangerang Elementary School on Nyimas Melati Street.
“During the vehicle search, we found several packages of crystal meth wrapped in Chinese tea packaging, along with thousands of Happy Five pills,” said AKBP Parikhesit, Head of Sub-Directorate 2.
Police also confiscated digital scales, handwritten notes, and multiple mobile phones, believed to be used for drug distribution.
Second Location, Bigger Surprise
After analyzing evidence from the first arrest, investigators quickly expanded the operation to a second location.
Just a few hours later, around 3:00 p.m., officers raided a house on Halim Perdana Kusuma Street, Jurumudi Lama, Benda District, Tangerang City. There, they arrested the second suspect, S (45).
Inside one of the bedrooms, police found a suitcase filled with 20 packages of crystal meth, all neatly wrapped in Guanyinwang-brand Chinese tea packaging. Tools used to break down and repackage the drugs were also discovered at the scene.
“At the second location, we secured suspect S along with 20 packages of meth stored in a suitcase, complete with repackaging equipment,” AKBP Parikhesit explained.
Police: Thousands of Lives Saved
With this operation, Jakarta Metro Police reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking networks.
Authorities say the seized drugs could have reached over 140,000 users, making this one of the most significant drug busts in the region so far this year.
Both suspects and all evidence have now been taken to Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters for further investigation.
