| Pedro Acosta Plays It Cool as Ducati 2027 Rumors Heat Up: “Let’s Focus on Now”. |
👀 When MotoGP rumors start flying, silence can say a lot.
Pedro Acosta may not have confirmed anything yet, but his latest comments have only fueled speculation about a potential blockbuster move to Ducati in 2027.
Speaking during KTM’s 2026 MotoGP livery launch, the 21-year-old Spanish star politely dodged questions about his future—right as talk of a switch to Ducati continues to gain serious momentum.
Acosta, whose current contract with KTM is nearing its end, is widely seen as one of the biggest names heading into the 2027 rider market. After all, he’s spent his entire Grand Prix career with KTM, collecting world titles in Moto3 and Moto2 along the way.
But lately, it feels like that long partnership may be approaching the final chapter.
The 2025 season didn’t quite go to plan for Acosta. Despite high expectations, he failed to grab his first MotoGP win as KTM struggled to match the rapid development pace of rivals like Ducati and Aprilia. It wasn’t until the second half of the season that Acosta really hit his stride, becoming a regular podium threat.
Over the winter break, reports kept popping up suggesting Acosta is lined up for a move to Ducati’s factory team in 2027—potentially alongside reigning world champion Marc Marquez. Those rumors only got louder after Ducati was said to have locked Marquez into a fresh two-year deal.
When asked directly about his contract situation and how soon he wants his 2027 future sorted, Acosta kept things firmly in the present.
“Right now, I’ve got enough on my plate just focusing on what’s happening in Malaysia during pre-season testing,” Acosta said.
“We’re in 2026. I want good results, like we showed at the end of 2025.”
“Today’s not the day to talk about the future—we’re here for the KTM presentation.”
“Let’s focus on ’26. ’27 is a question mark for everyone.”
Notably, Acosta didn’t hint at any ongoing contract talks with KTM either—something that hasn’t gone unnoticed in the paddock.
Meanwhile, Spanish media reports suggest KTM may already be looking at backup plans. Maverick Viñales is rumored to be a candidate for a factory KTM seat in 2027, should Acosta decide to move on.
Despite the uncertainty, Acosta still ended last season as KTM’s top rider, finishing fourth overall after a strong second-half surge. KTM, however, could only manage third in the manufacturers’ standings, trailing Aprilia and a dominant Ducati.
🔥 Bottom line?
Acosta isn’t confirming anything—but he’s not shutting the door either. And in MotoGP, that usually means one thing: the 2027 transfer saga is just getting started. 🏁
