Yeah, you read that right. After seven long years, Tammy Abraham is officially back at Aston Villa. The striker who once fired Villa back into the Premier League is returning to familiar ground—this time with way bigger expectations and a serious title chase on the line.
Aston Villa confirmed on Tuesday that Abraham has rejoined the club in a deal worth around $23 million, completing his move from Besiktas. The 28-year-old forward has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, becoming a key piece in Unai Emery’s fast-growing project.
From Hero Then, Weapon Now
Villa fans won’t need an introduction. Back in the 2018–19 season, Abraham was that guy. On loan from Chelsea, he smashed in 25 league goals in 40 games, playing a massive role in Villa’s promotion push.
That haul made him the first Villa player since Andy Gray in the 1976–77 season to hit the 25-goal mark in a single campaign. Once the job was done, Abraham headed back to Chelsea—but his name never really left Villa Park.
A Journey Through Europe
Since then, Abraham’s resume has only grown. He lifted the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, then added European silverware again by winning the Conference League with Roma four years later.
Most recently, he was on loan at Besiktas from Roma. The Turkish club activated their purchase option before Villa stepped in and secured his return, finalizing the deal directly with Besiktas.
As part of the agreement, teenage midfielder Yasin Ozcan, who spent the first half of the 2025–26 season on loan at Anderlecht, will head the other way and join Besiktas.
When Will He Play?
Abraham could make his Villa comeback this Sunday against Brentford, but don’t expect to see him in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Red Bull Salzburg—he’s not registered for that one yet.
More Moves Coming?
Villa’s transfer business might not stop here. Reports suggest Douglas Luiz could be on his way back to Villa Park on loan after a short stint at Nottingham Forest, where he’s currently on loan from Juventus.
The Brazilian’s return would help cover the midfield gap left by Youri Tielemans, who’s set to miss up to eight weeks with an ankle injury.
