| Ketapang Regent confirms fuel, LPG, and staple food supplies remain safe ahead of Eid. Gas stations in Ketapang will operate until night to serve residents. |
As Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri approaches, the Ketapang Regency Government has assured residents that essential supplies remain stable and sufficient.
Ketapang Regent Alexander Wilyo made the statement after holding a coordination meeting with local lawmakers, representatives from Pertamina, and the Indonesian Oil and Gas Retailers Association (Hiswana Migas) on Monday (March 16, 2026).
The meeting took place at the Ketapang DPRD building and focused on ensuring the availability of key necessities such as staple foods, fuel (BBM), and LPG gas as demand typically increases ahead of Eid celebrations.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the regent emphasized that the current supply situation remains under control.
“I would like to inform the public that fuel, LPG, and staple food supplies are safe. People do not need to make excessive purchases or panic buying,” Alexander Wilyo said outside the DPRD building.
Government Anticipates Increased Demand Before Eid
Every year, demand for essential goods tends to rise sharply as Eid approaches. Items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other staple foods usually see higher consumption during this period.
Fuel and LPG demand also increases as people travel more and prepare meals for family gatherings during the holiday season.
To address this, the local government coordinated closely with Pertamina and Hiswana Migas to ensure smooth distribution and adequate stock across the region.
Officials say the goal is simple: make sure residents can celebrate Eid without worrying about shortages.
Gas Stations In Ketapang Open Until Night
To improve services for the public, the Ketapang government has also decided to extend the operating hours of gas stations.
According to Regent Alexander Wilyo, starting now and continuing until Eid, gas stations across Ketapang will remain open until nighttime.
“Gas stations will operate until night during the Eid period. That’s one of the results of today’s meeting,” he explained.
Longer operating hours are expected to help reduce queues and make it easier for residents to refuel their vehicles.
Public Asked Not To Panic Buy
The local government also reminded residents to shop wisely and only buy what they actually need.
Panic buying, officials say, can disrupt market stability even when supplies are actually sufficient.
Through coordination between the regional government, Pertamina, and Hiswana Migas, authorities hope the distribution of staple goods, fuel, and LPG will remain smooth throughout Ramadan and the upcoming Eid holiday.
With the current preparations in place, Ketapang residents are expected to celebrate Eid with peace of mind.
