Drug Trafficking Foiled: 1 Kg of Meth Bound for Central Kalimantan Seized in North Pontianak. |
The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satres Narkoba) of the Pontianak City Police has once again shown their strong commitment to fighting drug trafficking. This time, they arrested a suspected meth courier who was planning to deliver 1 kilogram of crystal meth from Pontianak to Central Kalimantan.
The arrest took place on Friday, May 30, 2025. Led by Operational Unit Chief AKP Amrullah, the police apprehended a man with the initials AS, also known as Acen, at a small food stall on Selat Madura Street, North Pontianak. At the time, Acen was riding a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle with license plate KB 3670 KZ.
Officers found the meth hidden neatly in a plastic package, tucked inside the motorbike’s front compartment. According to initial questioning, Acen admitted that he was only acting as a courier and was promised a payment of IDR 20 million (around $1,200 USD) to deliver the drugs to Sampit, a city in Central Kalimantan.
The Chief of the Narcotics Unit, AKP Batman Pandaia, confirmed the arrest and emphasized the important role of community members in sharing valuable information with law enforcement.
“We truly appreciate the public for their cooperation. Thanks to a tip-off from the community, we were able to launch an investigation and arrest the suspect along with the drugs,” AKP Pandaia said.
He stressed that strong collaboration between the police and the public is crucial in the ongoing fight against drug distribution, especially across provincial borders.
Right now, the suspect and the evidence are in police custody at Pontianak City Police Headquarters for further investigation. Authorities are also working to track down other members of the drug network, including the individual who ordered the meth in Central Kalimantan.
This case adds to the growing list of drug trafficking busts involving inter-provincial syndicates successfully uncovered by the Pontianak police. They remain determined to take down these criminal operations that pose a serious threat to the nation’s younger generation.
