China Mobile, one of the largest telecommunications companies in China, has officially tested its next-generation 6G wireless network — not in a lab, but across 10 real-world locations.

They tested the data transmission speed of the 6G network, and the result is astounding: it reached 280 Gbit/s, enabling a 50 GB file to be downloaded in just 1.4 seconds!

The test took place in 2025, marking a major milestone in China’s race toward ultra-fast connectivity.

While the exact cities weren’t revealed, it was confirmed that the trial took place across 10 real-world sites, not in controlled lab environments.

This speed is 14 times faster than the theoretical maximum of current 5G networks, and experts believe that 6G could eventually offer speeds up to 28 times faster than 5G. This breakthrough could revolutionize digital industries, smart cities, augmented reality, and even the metaverse.

The technology is currently undergoing further performance and reliability verification. Although there’s no official timeline yet, full-scale deployment of 6G in China is expected within the next few years.

Interestingly, Russia has also been working on its own 6G technology. Since 2022, the country has developed local 6G equipment. In 2025, Russian scientists successfully tested the network with speeds reaching 12 GB per second — a promising step, even if not as fast as China's results.

China’s successful 6G test shows that the era of ultra-fast internet is right around the corner. With lightning-fast download speeds, this next-gen tech could transform how we work, learn, and connect. Buckle up — the digital future is speeding ahead!
