Extraordinary Provincial Conference of West Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce Declared Illegal, Lacks Kadin Indonesia Approval. |
Pontianak, July 29, 2025 — The planned Extraordinary Provincial Conference (Muprovlub) of the West Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has sparked controversy, with both the West Kalimantan leadership and Kadin Indonesia declaring the event illegitimate and unlawful.
The Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Anindya N. Bakrie, confirmed there was no written or verbal approval for the event to be held.
What Happened?
The announcement of the Extraordinary Provincial Conference to be held in West Kalimantan on July 29, 2025, drew strong objections from regional Kadin leaders.
“This event is illegal and violates the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART) of Kadin,” said Rizqi, Chairman of Kadin West Kalimantan.
According to Article 26, Paragraph 2 of Kadin’s Articles of Association, a Muprovlub can only be initiated by at least half of the officially established city/regency-level Kadin branches.
Who Opposes the Event?
All 11 Kadin branches across West Kalimantan, which were legally established through regional conferences (Musyawarah Kabupaten/Kota), have officially rejected the event through formal letters sent to the provincial board.
Here are the valid Kadin branches and their leaders:
-
Landak – Wendi Jayanto
-
Sanggau – Timotius Yance
-
Sekadau – Manto
-
Sintang – Boy Rahadian
-
Bengkayang – Kevin
-
Sambas – Yudiansyah
-
Kapuas Hulu – Hermas Lakin Kayo
-
Ketapang – Riza Fauzan
-
Pontianak City – Muhammad Naufal
-
North Kayong – Bung Tomo
-
Kubu Raya – Mansur Zahri
In addition, 7 out of 8 extraordinary Kadin members — including key industry associations like REI Kalbar, ALFI/ILFA, APBMI, IWAPI, and others — also submitted letters formally rejecting the event.
What Did Kadin Indonesia Say?
Anindya N. Bakrie, Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, personally confirmed to Rizqi on the evening of July 27 that no approval was given for the Muprovlub.
“Even if a representative from Kadin Indonesia is present, it is 100% without a mandate from the national leadership,” Rizqi emphasized.
Why Is It Considered Illegal?
According to Henray, Deputy Chairman for Organization, Law, and Communication at Kadin West Kalimantan, the event violates several key regulations.
“Kadin is governed by national law and a presidential decree — specifically Presidential Decree No. 18 of 2022. This sets out clear rules for organizing an extraordinary provincial conference,” he explained.
Article 26, Paragraph 5 states that the organizing committee must come from local branches that propose the event, and they must first consult with Kadin Indonesia.
“This is not about personal preferences. It’s about adhering to formal procedures,” Henray added.
What Happens Next?
Kadin West Kalimantan has appointed legal counsel to file an official report with law enforcement. The report includes evidence of data manipulation and violations of internal regulations.
“We believe there has been data tampering, which makes this a criminal matter,” said Henray.
How Is Kadin West Kalimantan Responding?
Rizqi called on all members and branch leaders to stay calm and focus on their ongoing programs at both the provincial and regency/city levels.
“Let’s not be provoked by individuals who seek to disrupt our organization. I urge everyone to stay professional and continue contributing to West Kalimantan’s business community,” Rizqi concluded.
