Landak, West Kalimantan — The atmosphere was filled with pride and excitement in Semade Village, Banyuke Hulu District, Landak Regency, on Thursday (October 23, 2025). The 9th anniversary celebration of the Tambak Baya Cultural Ritual School Foundation (PBRTB) was held in full spirit, attended by Landak Deputy Regent Erani, ST., MT.
During the event, Erani expressed his appreciation for PBRTB’s nine-year journey in preserving and promoting the culture and traditions of the Dayak people. He praised the foundation’s efforts not only in cultural preservation but also in its social contributions and role in shaping the younger generation.
“Happy 9th anniversary to the Tambak Baya Cultural Ritual School. May it continue to grow, shine, and make an impact — not just locally, but internationally. I’m proud to see guests from Brunei and Sarawak attending. It shows that our culture is recognized and respected,” said Erani.
Full Support from the Local Government
Deputy Regent Erani emphasized that his presence represented the Landak Regency Government’s full support for PBRTB’s mission to preserve Dayak traditions. He also highlighted the importance of unity and community cooperation in strengthening cultural and social resilience.
“The government can’t work alone without the people’s support. Let’s help each other, stay united, and maintain our spirit of togetherness. If there are public complaints or protests, it’s our duty to explain the situation clearly and respectfully,” Erani stated.
Message from the Tambak Baya Leader
The Chairman and Commander of Tambak Baya, Marselinus Mian, SE., MM, expressed his gratitude to all guests, including PBRTB branch representatives from across Indonesia and abroad. He reaffirmed that PBRTB was founded to protect and sustain Dayak cultural heritage so it continues to evolve with the times.
“We exist to preserve the Dayak traditions so they won’t vanish. Thank you to everyone, especially Mr. Deputy Regent, for your prayers and support. May PBRTB remain strong and united as we celebrate our 9th year,” said Marselinus.
Marselinus also addressed the recent controversy involving a content creator who insulted the radank — the iconic Dayak traditional house — on social media. He hoped the incident would serve as a lesson for everyone to respect cultural diversity.
“Don’t judge another culture carelessly. Culture and traditions are gifts from God, while religion is a personal choice guaranteed by law. We must learn to respect each other,” he emphasized.
Keeping Culture Alive
The 9th PBRTB anniversary celebration wasn’t just about formalities — it was also filled with various performances, including Dayak traditional dances, silat martial arts, Barongsai, and Tatung shows, all showcasing the rich diversity of West Kalimantan’s heritage.
Marselinus encouraged the public to continue preserving their local traditions so that future generations can carry forward the cultural values of their ancestors.
“Our culture is our identity. If we don’t protect it, who will?” he said passionately.
Among those present were Landak Deputy Regent Erani, Banyuke Hulu District Head Andrew Gormico, Semade Village Head Jalani, Banyuke Hulu DAD Chairman Abetnego, and representatives of PBRTB branches from Indonesia and abroad.
The celebration served as a strong reminder that the spirit of Dayak cultural preservation remains alive and thriving. Through collaboration between the government, traditional institutions, and the community, the values of local wisdom in Landak Regency will continue to flourish across generations.
