| Minister Nusron Strikes Back: Over IDR 23 Trillion in Land Assets Rescued from Land Mafia in 2025. |
Jakarta — The government’s strong efforts to eradicate land mafia networks have finally shown real results. The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, revealed that throughout 2025, more than IDR 23 trillion worth of land assets were successfully protected from criminal land practices that have harmed the public.
During the Coordination Meeting on Prevention and Settlement of Land Crimes held in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/03/2025), Nusron explained that this achievement came through joint collaboration between the ATR/BPN Ministry and law enforcement agencies (APH).
According to Nusron, the task force successfully resolved 90 land mafia cases out of a target of 107, and has designated 185 suspects. The government also managed to recover 14,315 hectares of land, which had been previously targeted by criminal networks. Based on Land Value Zone (ZNT) assessments, the total land asset value saved amounted to IDR 23.3 trillion.
“This is proof of our collective work. Throughout 2025, we managed to secure IDR 23.3 trillion worth of land assets that belong to the public and the state,” Nusron stated.
Appreciating Law Enforcement and Strengthening Collaboration
Before the members of the Task Force for Prevention and Settlement of Land Crimes, Nusron expressed deep appreciation for law enforcement officers and their efforts throughout the year.
He emphasized that strong collaboration is the key to confronting increasingly sophisticated land mafia networks.
“We thank all members of law enforcement. Hopefully, this collaboration continues and grows stronger,” he said.
However, Nusron also reminded everyone that the land mafia does not always operate externally — they often exploit internal weaknesses and loopholes.
Zero Tolerance for Internal Involvement
The Minister firmly asked law enforcement not to hesitate if they find ATR/BPN personnel involved in criminal activities.
“If APH finds any internal staff involved, we will not hesitate to hand them over directly for legal processing,” he stressed.
Nusron highlighted that land mafia groups usually operate by exploiting internal information, manipulating administrative procedures, or influencing decision-making to facilitate their illegal activities.
Therefore, he emphasized the importance of data transparency and strict oversight to prevent internal collaboration.
“Imagine law enforcement working hard to capture the criminals, but someone on the inside is helping them. Their first weapon is information. Then, they take advantage of procedural loopholes. This is what we must be extremely cautious of,” Nusron warned.
Toward Stronger Legal Protection for the People
With improved coordination and stronger teamwork among institutions, Nusron expressed confidence that Indonesia’s efforts to eradicate land mafia operations will become more effective.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring stronger legal protection so communities can enjoy certainty over land ownership and land use.
High-Level Officials in Attendance
The meeting was attended by key government and legal institutions, including:
-
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono
-
Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) of the National Police, Syahardiantono
-
Senior officials of ATR/BPN, along with several Heads of Provincial BPN Offices.
With persistent and focused efforts, the government aims to ensure that Indonesian citizens feel safer and more secure in their land ownership rights.
The strong action against land mafia networks is a clear signal that the state is present — defending the assets of its people.
