Marc Marquez Looks Unstoppable in MotoGP 2025 — Who Could Finally Beat Him?

Marc Marquez has been absolutely dominant in MotoGP 2025. The Spanish rider has won 10 races in a row and currently sits at the top of the standings, with his ninth world championship looking almost certain. However, with half of the season still to go — including some flyaway races — his rivals are determined to end his winning streak.

Experts from Crash.net have weighed in on which rider might be the first to beat Marquez and where it could happen.

Peter McLaren points out, “Beating a mistake-free Marc Marquez on the same brand of bike is incredibly tough. Assuming stable weather, the best chance likely comes from having a technical advantage — like another manufacturer better exploiting the tires.” He highlights KTM’s Pedro Acosta and Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi as the top challengers behind Marquez recently. Bezzecchi, who already claimed a MotoGP win at Silverstone, is seen as the more consistent podium contender.

McLaren believes the new Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park, debuting in late August, will be a “step into the unknown for everyone” and could produce surprises. He also notes the Barcelona GP in early September as a possible upset venue, given Aprilia’s historical success there with riders like Aleix Espargaro.

Lewis Duncan notes Ducati and Aprilia have been the only manufacturers to win dry races outside Marquez’s Honda this year. “Bezzecchi’s Silverstone victory showed Aprilia is clearly the second-best bike on the grid. He’s been Marquez’s closest challenger at Assen and pushed him hard at Brno,” Duncan says. He also points out Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez as riders who can capitalize if Marc makes mistakes, thanks to their powerful Ducati machines.

Derry Munikartono says Marquez is currently in a league of his own, dominating even on tracks once seen as weak spots like Lusail, Mugello, and Assen. But if anyone can break his streak, Mandalika could be the place. “It’s the only circuit where Marc hasn’t won yet — it’s physically demanding, has low grip, and is unpredictable. That makes it the best shot for riders like Pecco, Álex, or Bez to finally stop #93 this season,” he explains.

Jordan Moreland predicts Alex Marquez could be the first to beat his brother at Barcelona in September, noting Alex’s strong performance during testing and his affinity for the track.

Alex Whitworth adds that Austria could be the track to end Marquez’s winning run, but admits Marc’s past lack of success there is largely due to bike performance issues, not skill. Whitworth believes the best chance to stop Marquez might come from unexpected events at flyaway races, since Marc is also strong in tricky conditions.

With Marquez’s remarkable form continuing, his rivals still face a tough challenge. The second half of the 2025 MotoGP season promises plenty of excitement as fans watch to see if the champion’s streak will finally be broken or if he will cement his dominance.
