The Regent of Kubu Raya Regency, Sujiwo, distributed food aid packages to 50 online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers in Sungai Raya on Friday. The initiative was carried out as a form of social care for informal workers during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri.
The distribution of food packages is part of an annual program routinely held every Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr. The activity aims to support community members working in the field while strengthening the relationship between the local government and residents.
Sujiwo said the initiative of sharing with ojol drivers has now entered its third year. According to him, online motorcycle taxi drivers play an important role in supporting daily mobility within the community.
“This is the third year we have shared with our friends who work as online motorcycle taxi drivers. We have indeed made it an annual agenda during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” Sujiwo said.
In addition to ojol drivers, the local government plans to distribute similar assistance to several other professional groups. These include airport porters, sanitation workers, and volunteer firefighters.
Sujiwo explained that these groups make significant contributions to public services but often receive less public attention. Therefore, the aid is expected to provide support while also recognizing their dedication.
“Soon, similar assistance will also be distributed to airport porters, sanitation workers, volunteer firefighters, and several other community groups who deserve attention,” he said.
Ramadan As A Moment To Strengthen Social Solidarity
Sujiwo emphasized that Ramadan is the right time to strengthen social awareness within society. The holy month is widely regarded as a moment to increase solidarity and the spirit of sharing with others.
He described Ramadan as a time full of blessings and forgiveness, when good deeds are believed to receive multiplied rewards. For this reason, activities such as distributing food aid are considered especially meaningful during this period.
“Ramadan is a month of forgiveness and blessings, where rewards for good deeds are multiplied. That is why we use this moment to share with others,” he said.
During the event, Sujiwo also delivered a message to the ojol drivers, encouraging them to remain grateful and patient in carrying out their profession. He noted that every person has their own destiny and path in life.
According to him, gratitude and patience are essential attitudes in facing the challenges of daily work.
“Every person has their own destiny and profession. My message to online motorcycle taxi drivers is to remain grateful and patient in doing your work,” he said.
The event concluded with Sujiwo extending his wishes to the public for a blessed fasting month. He expressed hope that all acts of worship performed during Ramadan will be accepted by Allah SWT and bring blessings to the community.
