Jakarta – Police have officially revealed the contents of a bag belonging to Arya Daru Pangayunan (39), a young diplomat whose body was recently discovered on the rooftop of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Central Jakarta. The bag, left behind a day before Arya was found dead, may offer crucial insights into the ongoing investigation.

What Was Inside Arya Daru’s Bag?

The bag was found on the 12th floor rooftop of the Foreign Ministry’s main office—exactly where Arya’s body was later discovered. According to a statement by AKBP Reonald Simanjuntak, Subdivision Head of Public Information at Polda Metro Jaya, the bag contained several personal and work-related items.

“I can’t disclose everything in detail, but what we found included a laptop, some clothing, and a paper goodie bag,” Reonald explained on Monday, July 28, 2025.

Where Did the Clothes Come From?

According to police, the clothes inside the bag were recently purchased by Arya just before he went to the rooftop.

“He had just come from GI (Grand Indonesia), a shopping mall, and bought some clothes there before heading to the rooftop,” said Reonald.

This shopping activity has become an important clue, suggesting Arya was going about a seemingly normal day before his tragic death.

What Else Did Police Find in the Bag?

In addition to clothes and the goodie bag, Arya’s laptop, several office supplies, and a number of medications were also found in his backpack. Police noted that the nature of the medications is confidential due to privacy concerns, but they confirmed that these items were among his belongings.

“A laptop, newly purchased clothes, some medicine he carried, receipts from his shopping, and some office tools were all there,” Reonald elaborated.

When and Where Was the Bag Found?

The backpack was discovered on the rooftop of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building a day before Arya’s body was found. Initially, security personnel didn’t realize it belonged to Arya, and the bag remained untouched until police arrived at the scene.
