You Can Now Lock Your Windows PC Remotely Using an Android Phone – Here’s How! |
Great news for Windows and Android users! Microsoft has rolled out a major update for its Link to Windows app, allowing users to remotely lock their Windows 11 PCs using just a smartphone. This feature is perfect for those moments when you walk away from your computer but forget to lock it.
Microsoft has introduced a Remote Lock feature in the latest version of the Link to Windows app (version 1.25071.165 or higher). With just one tap from your Android phone, you can lock your PC screen—no Bluetooth required.
This feature is available to anyone using Windows 11 and an Android device with the latest version of the Link to Windows app. If your phone is already linked to your PC, you're good to go!
The update began rolling out in late July 2025. Simply head to the Google Play Store and make sure your app is up to date to start using the new feature.
Since the remote locking feature works over the internet and doesn't rely on Bluetooth, it can be used anywhere—at home, in the office, or on the go.
We’ve all had moments where we stepped away from our computers for “just a minute” and ended up gone for much longer. Now, instead of rushing back to lock your PC manually, you can just grab your phone, open the app, and tap Lock PC—your data stays secure.
-
Make sure your PC is running Windows 11 and your Android phone is linked to it.
-
Update Link to Windows to version 1.25071.165 or newer.
-
Ensure both devices are signed in with the same Microsoft account.
-
Open the app on your phone and tap the Lock PC button.
Besides remote locking, Microsoft also added several other handy tools in this update:
-
Clipboard Access: View your clipboard history (text, images, files) from your PC directly on your phone—no more limited to just the last copied item.
-
File and Photo Sharing: Easily transfer files and pictures between your phone and PC using the app.
-
Screen Mirroring: Cast your phone’s screen to your computer—now accessible from the Android app too, not just the PC.
This update shows that Microsoft is continuing to strengthen the integration between Windows and Android. If you work across devices, this is a great time to update your app and enjoy the new features. Convenience and security are now right at your fingertips!
