In the early hours of Sunday, things got intense at the Aston Hotel on Gajah Mada Street, Pontianak. A man, identified by the initials RA (37), caused a major scene after being denied entry into an entertainment venue. The incident happened around 1:10 AM on May 25, 2025.

Instead of buying a ticket like everyone else, RA lost his cool and lashed out at the ticket attendant, Rosanto (45). But it didn’t stop there—RA was carrying a sharp weapon, a kerambit knife, tucked into his waistband.

According to Pontianak Selatan Police Chief AKP Jatmiko, RA started acting suspiciously as soon as he was told he couldn’t enter.

“He kept reaching toward his waist while threatening the ticket officer. Turns out, he had a kerambit knife about 10 cm long with a white and silver handle,” Jatmiko told reporters on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Worried for his safety, Rosanto decided to check RA. That’s when things escalated. A struggle broke out, and unfortunately, Rosanto got injured—his left index finger was slashed during the scuffle, leaving him bleeding in the middle of the night.

Without wasting time, Rosanto reported the incident to the Pontianak Selatan Police. The response was quick—Team Macan Selatan was immediately dispatched and managed to catch RA not far from the scene.

“We found him just sitting casually on the side of the road, acting like nothing had happened. During questioning, he admitted everything,” Jatmiko added.

RA is now behind bars and facing serious charges. He’s been charged under Article 335 of the Indonesian Criminal Code for unpleasant acts, as well as Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 for possession of a sharp weapon without a permit.

This situation is a reminder for all of us—when emotions take over, things can spiral out of control fast. A simple disagreement turned into a criminal case, all because someone didn’t want to follow the rules. Hopefully, this case serves as a lesson for others to stay calm and act responsibly, no matter the situation.
