| Ronaldinho: Bojan Krkic’s Best Barcelona Teammate—Not Messi! |
When you think of the greatest Barcelona teammates, most people instantly think of Lionel Messi, right? But surprisingly, Bojan Krkic—the former La Masia star and now Barcelona’s football coordinator—says the best teammate he ever had wasn’t Messi, but the legendary Ronaldinho!
Bojan played alongside Messi for four years and was part of Barcelona’s golden generation featuring stars like Andrés Iniesta and Xavi. Still, in a recent interview with Portuguese outlet A Bola, Bojan gave all the credit to Ronaldinho as the most special player he shared the pitch with.
“If you ask me who the best player I played with was, it’s probably Ronaldinho. I know it’s tough and maybe unfair because I also played with Messi, who performed at an incredible level for years,” Bojan said.
“But in my opinion, Ronaldinho had it all. He was an amazing playmaker. Whenever he had the ball—whether during the game or even when preparing for a penalty—the whole team trusted him. He was a true leader on the field,” he added.
Bojan only played with Ronaldinho for two years before the Brazilian moved to AC Milan in 2008. But during Ronaldinho’s five years at Barcelona, he scored 82 goals in 174 appearances, helping the club dominate in Spain and Europe.
As for Bojan, his career at Barcelona didn’t quite reach the heights expected. After scoring over 900 goals in Barcelona’s youth teams and making his first-team debut at 17, he struggled to meet the high expectations. He later moved to Stoke City in 2014 and retired in 2023 at just 32 years old.
Now 34, Bojan is back at his boyhood club as a coordinator, focusing on developing the next generation of Barcelona stars at La Masia. One of the promising talents coming through is Lamine Yamal, who’s already being talked about as one of the world’s best young wingers.
